Summer Math Pre Calc Prep Academy

Service Description

Prepare for precalculus and be ready for the semester ahead. This summer math academy will provide instruction, homework, assessment and some math fun as we prepare you to pass precalculus next year! Topics: Weeks 1 and 2: Intro to functions including notation, domain and range, graph behavior, compositions, transformations, inverse and absolute functions Week 3: Linear functions Week 4 and 5: Polynomial and rational functions including quadratic and power functions, graphs, zeros, and inverses Week 6 through 8: Trigonometry including angles, the unit circle, and right triangle trigonometry. As well as an intro to periodic functions and trig identities Weekly Structure: - Instructional Hour: An engaging 60 minute class time where students will be taught math concepts while building their ability to apply and analyze the math they are learning. - Homework Assignment: Homework helps math concepts stick and builds mathematical perseverance. Assignments will be emailed to parents and are due each week. - Quiz: Every other week, students will participate in a quiz where they can win prizes. Start Date: June 18th (Last Wednesday meeting in August 6th) Days: Every Wednesday Time: 6:00pm PST At the end of the 8 weeks, participants will receive - T-shirt from I AM STEM ABLE - Certificate of Completion - One free tutoring session for the new school year
